Bruce Van Boeckel Founder’s Award Winners

Three veteran hospice volunteers are being honored for 90 collective years of Hospice Service in the Franklin County Area.

Elaine Chichester of Conway, Joanne Garland and Betty Howe, both of Greenfield, were among the pioneers of the hospice movement in this region through their participation in the first volunteer training class in 1981. The trio are deserving of this award for 30 continuous years of dedication to the mission and philosophy of hospice care in their own community. All three women still contribute to community outreach and education regarding hospice and palliative care and directly support patients and families with compassionate and quality end-of-life care.

The Bruce Van Boeckel Founder’s Award annually recognizes community members who extend the reach and accessibility of Hospice through their time and creative efforts.
